A glycated serum protein called fructosamine is created when blood glucose and proteins combine. The concentration of fructosamine will increase when blood glucose levels rise. As a result, the levels of fructosamine in the blood indicate the presence of glucose. The primary blood protein, albumin, is primarily involved in glycation. Glucose may also interact with other protein substances. The shelf life of these protein compounds is two to three weeks. You may estimate the blood glucose level during the last two to three weeks by testing the level of fructosamine. To evaluate the amount of fructosamine in blood, a blood sample is often used in fructosamine tests. The test is used to diagnose diabetes and is also helpful in forecasting the patient's blood sugar trends.
WHY?
